Job Description

The Manager, Promotions reports to the Vice President, Communications & Public Engagement and has joint accountability to deliver promotions, brand and marketing solutions to IH, in support of IH’s reputation and key strategies, and in alignment with IH’s values and goals.

The Manager, Promotions is responsible for leading a team of communications professionals, and overseeing IH social media communications, analytics of digital communications tools, and the evolution and implementation of an updated IH visual identity and brand strategy. The manager will apply strategic and system knowledge to develop and distribute high quality promotions and campaigns to inspire target audiences to adopt new behaviours in alignment with IH’s key priorities.

The Manager works within a large and complex multi-site organization and requires an understanding of the many diverse internal and external audiences across IH, along with the unique challenges faced by Interior Health to communicate across diverse sites and audiences.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to Communications staff through coaching, guiding, and modeling key behaviours and strategies. They will assist team members to define shared and individual goals, meet target dates, and ensure alignment of team goals with client needs. Overseeing the development and ongoing management of the IH communication plan strategy, the candidate will work in partnership with senior leaders and project and program leads to ensure the effective internal communication of various programs, initiatives, and services to diverse internal audiences.

Providing on-call (after hours) coverage according to the portfolio schedule, the Manager will also seek out new communication opportunities proactively and recommend appropriate implementation mechanisms to the VP, Communications & Public Engagement and other senior Portfolio leaders to enhance IH’s credibility and reputation among internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree specializing in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. They will have a minimum of 7 years of recent, related experience in a large, multi-union and/or public sector environment, including experience in management and/or leadership roles. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including CP style and excellent proof-reading skills is required. The candidate will also have sound knowledge, understanding, and application of latest communication concepts, strategies, technical skills, and best practices to identify, develop, and implement strategies, key messages, and initiatives. Healthcare communication experience would be a strong asset.
