Position Description

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) is a global investment organization working to help ensure the Canada Pension Plan will be there for future generations. We are committed to keeping our stakeholders informed about our mandate, our investing convictions and activities.

 

Accountability and transparency are the foundations upon which we build and protect CPPIB’s reputation as a prudent, sophisticated global institutional investor. We are seeking a communications professional join our organization for a 14-month contract as Manager, Communications.

 

Reporting to the head of Global Corporate Communications, this position is responsible for managing investment communications and financial reporting programs, while also providing broad communications support in the flawless execution of the department’s communications and media programs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Investment communications – manage the planning and disclosure of transaction announcements, adhering to CPPIB’s robust disclosure protocol. Provide project management support to Global Corporate Communications team to ensure flawless execution of announcements. Write, review and proof communications materials, as required.
  • Financial reporting programs – lead the project management of the quarterly results disclosure and Annual Report. Ensure accurate, efficient and timely delivery of projects. Includes developing and tracking project timelines, writing and proofing related content, coordination of translation and external vendors, and liaising with other departments for content updates. Update related corporate materials on a quarterly basis including geography backgrounders.
  • Reputation management – manage reputation management programs, including managing the database inventory for reputation risk assessments. Protect CPPIB’s reputation by providing counsel to investment departments on reputation considerations for new global investment activities.
  • Media relations – work with the Director of Global Media Relations on media activities. Monitor and track media coverage in real-time to identify emerging issues; create media compilations for transactions, financial results and CPPIB-related issues; review and summarize the quarterly media activity report. Disseminate company press releases via the newswire service.
  • Corporate Culture – exemplify the organization’s Guiding Principles of high performance, integrity and partnership. Contribute to a team culture focused on flawless execution and strong project/process management. Provide support and assistance to other team members and participate in department special projects as requested.
Qualifications
  • Communications professional with 5-7 years of financial communications or investor relations experience. Previous experience working on an Annual Report would be an asset.
  • College or University degree in Communications or an associated field of study.
  • Strong project management skills to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of communications projects.
  • Consistently deliver flawless execution on all projects.
  • Excellent writing and proofing skills.
  • Detail- and results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively with teams.
  • High-performing team player with a collaborative approach and actively contributes to joint projects and initiatives.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and exhibit flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Able to work flexible hours outside of core office hours as required
