Communications Officer, Internal and Corporate Communications

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

- Initiate, plan, execute and evaluate communications activities to support FSCO's corporate priorities;

- Provide strategic communications advice, expertise and writing services for market conduct portfolio clients;

- Research, write, edit and design content for a variety of communications products, including speaking notes, e-newsletters and web/intranet content;

- Position the branch as a partner to FSCO program areas in the delivery of all communications.

Qualifications

How do I qualify?

Communications Skills:

- You have knowledge of contemporary and strategic communications theory, methods, techniques and practices in new media, design, content development, and social media trends to provide senior expertise in developing internal and corporate communications.

- You have knowledge of political decision-making and legislative processes and executive office protocol to implement and ensure that corporate standards and processes are maintained.

- You can write a range of communications materials (e.g. strategic communications plans, speeches, feature articles, employee profiles, web content, newsletters, e-invites, briefing notes).

- You have writing/editing skills using a variety of vehicles, features and styles appropriate for different purposes and audiences in order to prepare internal and corporate communications for the organization.

- You have advisory, consultative and consensus building skills to develop cooperative efforts with internal clients, advise management on communications strategies, and advance the communications interests of FSCO.

- You can propose new, creative ideas and alternate solutions, and illustrate advantages/disadvantages of various options from the client needs, options available and recommended delivery perspective.

- You use tact, diplomacy, persuasion and negotiation skills to support program area needs and approaches for new initiatives.

Computer Experience:

- You have experience with website content management and development, and the use of web-based editing tools/software to update and maintain content on the intranet.

Analytical and Evaluation Skills:

- You can assess the issues and viewpoints of various stakeholder groups and design content and prepare messages, information and communications products to support corporate positioning.

- You can research and analyze communication requirements, and identify potential emerging issues or trends that may have implications for FSCO communications.

- You can evaluate the success of communications activities against measurable objectives and use the findings to influence future activities.

Project Management and Organizational Skills:

- You have knowledge of project management methods and techniques to lead project teams.

- You can coordinate concurrent projects.

- You can prioritize work to meet deadlines.

Salary Range: $1,373.19 - $1,680.25 per week
