Manager External & Internal Communications

Job Description
General Accountabilities: Reporting to the Director, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, the Manager, External and Internal Communications is responsible for developing and managing external and internal communications projects including: •Safety awareness campaign management involving advertising, public relations, media relations, social media, collateral and other tools; •Internal communications programs including content development, collateral, planning and liaison with other departments and teams, event planning, presentation and speaking remarks, Intranet content strategy and other channels; •Corporate profile initiatives including spokesperson placement, content strategies, events and conferences, speaking remarks, public relations, and brand standards management; •Engaging with media including proactive outreach and responding to incoming inquiries; •Developing and executing social media content and strategies, and acting as one of a number of community managers on the team; •Managing communications programs’ performance and feedback such as results gathering, analysis and reporting Ongoing responsibilities would include project planning and management, vendor management, ensuring delivery of targeted results on time and on budget, direction of team members, liaison with internal and external stakeholders including senior staff.
•Requires a strong knowledge of communication theories and their applicability to the business setting. •Requires communication knowledge related to public affairs, advertising, public relations, media relations, digital strategy, external communications, internal communications, and social media to support the initiatives of the department. •Requires excellent written, verbal and listening skills to engage stakeholders and media. This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of a 4-year University education and/or corporate communications degree or certificate. •Requires a strong background of communications experience with particular emphasis in the field of external and internal relations. Requires project management, multi-tasking and negotiating skills to provide effective support to ESA’s strategic goals. •Requires experience to understand relevant issues related to safety promotion, corporate profile promotion and management, issues management, and internal communications. •Requires a basic understanding of graphic design and the use of visual art in communications to create engaging digital content. •Requires demonstrated listening and negotiating skills to work effectively with people inside and outside the organization to achieve the required results. •Requires demonstrated experience motivating professional staff. •Requires experience in managing external vendors to deliver strong results on time and on budget. •Requires experience in supervisory and administrative duties. A period of over 8 years and up to and including 10 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
