Communications Specialist

Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the Communications Specialist will support the communications and marketing needs of the Stewardship, Forestry and Conservation Lands and Education departments. What you will do: - Provide communication and marketing advice and service to client departments. - Develop, design and implement communications and marketing plans/campaigns and associated materials. - Collaborate closely with internal communication team and client departments on program implementation and campaign monitoring. - Compile and analyze communications data to evaluate the success of the communications/ marketing plan and make recommendations for ongoing activities. - Conduct ongoing audience research to inform campaign implementation and evaluation. - Grow client base by generating and converting leads through the implementation of selected tactics and by producing compelling content. - Create, design and produce a variety of written and visual communications materials including; offer letters, web and social media content, flyers, presentation material, and more. - Provide planning, promotional and on-site logistics support at community events including, but not limited to; media events, tree-plantings, workshops, open houses, fairs and festivals. - Assist with researching, writing and executing other corporate communication products and event support. - Coordinate both internal and external resource support for media relations, web and social media, print production, photography and other applicable tactics.
What you offer: - Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related discipline. - Minimum 4 years of experience in similar role with knowledge of Conservation Authority programs. - Effective organization, project planning and prioritization skills. - Persuasive verbal and written communication coupled with strong proof reading and editing skills. - Strong interpersonal and client service skills and the ability to work independently as well as with an interdisciplinary team. - Effective analytical, problem solving, judgment and decision making skills. - Demonstrated experience in planning and event coordination. - Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) and Microsoft Office Suite. - Knowledge of Adobe Premiere and social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) - Proficiency in the creation of accessible documents as per the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (ADOA). - Experience in photography, video filming and editing an asset. - Knowledge of the Lake Simcoe Watershed an asset.
