We’re seeking a Director, Communications to lead our award-winning team in the development and implementation of the College’s marketing strategies, communication and public relations initiatives. Primary Duties • Creating, implementing, and evaluating the success of the College’s comprehensive marketing/communications and media relations program that enhances the College’s image and position to all stakeholders • Ensure articulation of the College’s desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the College, and with all external • Responsible for the achievement of marketing/ communications/ public relations mission, goals, and financial objectives; ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to these goals and objectives and report progress to the Chief of Staff • Develop short and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing/communications/public relations program and its activities, monitor progress, ensure adherence and evaluate performance • Work with senior staff and other staff to develop and maintain a strategic marketing and communications perspective based on marketplace, stakeholder needs and satisfaction; in organizational direction, program and services, and decision-making • Develop and coordinate means to seek regular input from the College’s key stakeholders regarding the quality of programs and services and the College’s relevance • Maintain a climate that attracts, retains, and motivates top quality staff within the department • Ensure effective management within the marketing, communications, and public relations function with provision for succession
Required Skills • Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications, and public relations activities • Strong, creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and people skills • Strong oral and written communication skills • Computer literacy • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams Education and Experience • Specialized professional skills typically obtained through a Bachelor's degree (journalism, marketing, public relations preferred) plus professional certificate in area of specialty or equivalent, or additional classes in specialized area • Membership in IABC (International Association of Business Communicators) or CPRS (Canadian Public Relations Society) and IABC or CPRS accreditation • Requirement for 8 to 12 years of related experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the not-for-profit or association sector • Demonstrated successful experience writing media releases, making presentations, and negotiating with media • Experience overseeing the design and production of print and electronic materials and publications • Experience developing and managing budgets; hiring, training, developing, supervising, and appraising staff
