Communications Officer

Job Description
The Position

Location: Edmonton, AB

Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Communications, the Communications Officer is responsible for leading multi-dimensional communications initiatives that enhance CPSI’s brand and demand for our services. An expert in communications, the Communications Officer undertakes a diverse set of activities spanning strategic planning, creative development, implementation and analysis of integrated communications campaigns. These campaigns support CPSI’s programming and are integrated with media relations, government relations and other communications activities. They are multi-touch campaigns, making use of social media, the corporate website, electronic newsletter and any other channel that fits. This position will be the primary interface with CPSI program leads and external agencies to execute the various marketing activities and will drive interest, awareness and demand among both new and existing CPSI stakeholders. This position will play a critical role in defining the direction of CPSI’s branding and marketing strategy, informed by best practices.

The ability to travel within Canada is required.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         With and through CPSI staff communicates customized patient safety programs for defined customers and market this

·         Communicates patient safety quality improvement tools and methods for defined customers

·         Seek to fully understand staff priorities to communicate effectively with internal/external customers and stakeholders

·         Ensure customer success by providing the right information at the right time

·         All phases of project communication planning, including the development of communication plans, estimating time and resource requirements, identifying and mitigating communication risks, and implementing and evaluating project success

·         Maintain awareness of relevant communications initiatives, environmental scanning – scan and review literature, websites, and news related to patient safety

·         Scanning, analyzing and applying relevant and emerging communication practices with internal and external stakeholders

Contribute to the development of creative communication campaigns
Qualifications
Education and Experience

·         A related degree at a recognized institution

·         Minimum three years of experience working in marketing – required competencies include being well versed in all areas of marketing; excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, negotiation and public relations skills

·         Membership with the International Association of Business Communicators or Canadian Marketing Association is desirable

·         Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills – ability to work with a diverse group of professionals from within as well as outside CPSI

·         Demonstrated commitment to high quality work – strong analytical capability, excellent attention to detail and outcome orientation

·         Enthusiasm, creativity, energy and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

·         Strategic thinker with proven leadership skills

·         Bilingualism a definite asset
