Senior Advisor, External Communications

Job Description

Team & Job Overview The External Communications Group oversees the Corporation’s global communications function across a variety of audiences and stakeholders. Working closely with business and fellow advisory teams across the Corporation, the Senior Advisor is responsible for the delivery of communication solutions that generate specific, measurable results with targeted audiences, with an emphasis on issue management and proactive media relations. The Senior Advisor also manages multiple projects, Public Relations, Public Affairs, and/or business line-specific campaigns, speechwriting, corporate reports, and general communications activities. Discipline Summary • Develops and delivers communication strategies across all channels to raise awareness, increase understanding, drive engagement, and manage EDC’s corporate reputation with target audiences. • A strong focus on driving pre-determined and measurable results within a multi-stakeholder environment that includes the broader business community (both Canadian and international), the global financial industry, Government (domestic and international), international media, and civil society. Key Responsibilities • Conceptualizes, develops, produces, and implements external communications strategies and solutions including media relations, partnered communications, social media, publications, talking points/key messages, speeches, panelist remarks, and backgrounders in response to identified business objectives. • Working alongside the Manager, External Communications, oversees EDC’s issue management framework, including impact measurement, forecasting, transactional risk reviews, talking point system updates, and reporting. • Acts as the Corporation’s official spokesperson. • Advises senior executives and business teams on communications activities and issue management scenarios. • Provides expert communications advice to project teams, as assigned. • Identifies opportunities for process improvement initiatives and service enhancements.
Screening Criteria • Completed an Undergraduate Degree in communication, Journalism or in a related field • Minimum of 7 years of experience in communications, public relations, or related experience • Advanced knowledge of communications principles and practices • Corporate issue management experience • Demonstrated ability to proactively engage media to generate coverage • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English) Assets • Communications experience within a global-scale organization in private sector, Crown Corporation, NGO, and/or PR agency • Exposure to the fields of banking/finance, commercial trade, and economics • Familiarity and facility with technologies that support the communications profession • Familiarity/facility with Lean management processes Salary Range • $73, 000 - $109 000, plus performance based incentive How to apply Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
