Communications Coordinator

Job Description

Overview:

Manage all aspects of print, social media, digital and public awareness communications

Assist in the execution of communication and marketing plan to support the Association’s strategic priorities

Report to the Executive Director

Established in 1963, the Ontario Dental Hygienists’ Association (ODHA) advocates for the profession. In Ontario, all dental hygienists are registered with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, which regulates the profession to ensure the public receives safe and comprehensive oral health care.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with social media program, generate and share content, monitor and analyze
  • Coordinate the production of the Association’s’ electronic publications
  • Assist with the implementation of the Association’s communications and marketing plan and strategic priorities
  • Generate and write news stories and take photographs as appropriate
  • Shoot and edit video when required
  • Develop briefing notes for the Executive Director and / or Board of Directors
  • Develop communications products
  • Assist with special events including ODHA’s biennial educational conference and exhibit hall
  • Develop speaking notes and other communications
  • Work on special projects, administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
  • Maintain, review and update the ODHA brand and style guides
Qualifications
 Required Qualifications:
·         Post secondary degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related discipline
·         Minimum 3 years related experience with a minimum of 2 years experience with online communications
·         Exemplary writing, editing, communication, proofing and research skills with strong attention to detail
·         Creative, innovative, tech-savvy and knowledgeable of new media and emerging technology
·         Strong computer skills
·         Critical thinking skills with a proven record of problem solving or solution generation
·         Self directed team player
·         Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate with others
·         Comfortable in a small staff working environment
·         Flexibility in work hours (occasional evening and weekend hours required)
·         Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines and work under pressure and time restraints

Preferred qualifications:
·         Health care knowledge
·         Previous experience in not-for-profit sector
·         Oral and written French proficiency at an advanced level
