Your role

CBC/Radio-Canada in Manitoba is looking for a dynamic, Senior Communications Officer (Marketing) to join the English Communications, Brand and Marketing team. The successful candidate will execute a variety of marketing/communications strategies, projects and initiatives in support of CBC Manitoba’s multiplatform programming (television, radio and digital) and will report to the Communications Manager. This position requires someone with a passion for the CBC and a flair for connecting with audiences. You bring an innovative spirit to your work, and thrive in fast paced environments.

Some of the duties for this position may include:

  • Develop and implement targeted social influencer mapping strategies to identify new audiences, create tailored online experiences, foster brand engagement and enable ambassadors.
  • Explore, experiment and recommend social media strategies for a variety of platforms (i.e. Reddit, Tumblr, Snapchat, etc.)
  • Implement marketing strategy for digital and social platforms. 
  • Facilitate engagement with a community focus.
  • Manage and execute paid social media buys.
  • Manage and update program assets/publicity materials.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with internal audiences. This includes working on a variety of marketing projects.
  • Develop and implement strategic, integrated marketing plans to promote programming.
  • Work closely with community partners to develop community engagement strategies and plans.
  • Conceive, plan, and produce a wide variety of marketing and promotional materials.
  • Demonstrated public speaking and networking skills.
  • Success in crafting dynamic and persuasive presentations.
  • Create and develop promotional concepts and approaches.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment; ability to pitch ideas and work with the news team to identify promotable stories a definite asset.
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University or College graduation in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related discipline.
  • Five years of experience in communications, promotions, and marketing.
  • Experience in marketing (traditional, digital and social), communications, community relations, event planning and experiential marketing.
  • Demonstrated social media experience - Active and highly skilled on multiple social media platforms and online communications tools (such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Conversocial, Hootsuite, etc.) and experience with social analytics and reporting.
  • Interest and acumen in digital and social media.
  • Success in crafting dynamic and persuasive social media materials.
  • Creativity and strategic thinking.
  • Superior writing and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated public speaking and networking skills.
  • Success in crafting dynamic and persuasive presentations.
  • Leadership skills (excellent planning and organizational ability).
  • Superior negotiation skills and the ability to navigate complex issues to bring about an agreement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work to a tight deadline.
  • Ability to provide support in a variety of roles in a team environment.
  • Excellent judgement.
  • Initiative.
  • Strong PR and content marketing skills.
  • Ability to work events at night as well as weekends.
